Cooking teambuilding

You must have seen that television program called Ready, Steady, Cook – imagine something very similar but with some of your employees on each team. Bear in mind the following. You probably only know your employees from what you have witnessed in the workplace. In the average office of, say, 10 employees, there will be at least one who is an experienced cook, and some who have never cooked a thing in their lives. Believe it or not, some people have never even boiled a kettle! Wickedfood® Cooking Schools run fun teambuilding exercises for corporate clients in their two schools at Sunninghill and Boksburg. Teambuilding through cooking is a new and brilliant idea that gets your staff working together as two or more teams, and believe me, it’s a fun time.

Here’s how it works. At the start of the exercise we supply an identical mystery basket of ingredients to each team (the teams consist of between 6 and 12 participants), and also give them some recipe ideas. They have a fixed time in which they must come up with a 3-course meal, including side dishes, making up 6 dishes in total. That means that they must prepare and cook the meals from scratch. At the end of the cooking teambuilding exercise they get to sit down and eat what they have cooked. Apart from the fun aspect, a cooking competition is also a novel way of entertaining clients, a great form of teambuilding, or ideal opportunity of assessing various staff members' abilities to work together and solve common problems.
