Learning Cooking

Cooking is described as being the process of preparing food by applying heat. Food is prepared by the selection, measuring and combination of various ingredients in an specific order in order to  produce safe and edible food. There are a number of different ways of cooking, including boiling, braising, frying, baking, roasting, steaming, grilling, stewing and simmering. The process includes a huge range of different techniques, equipment and combinations of ingredients that are used to alter the flavour or digestibility of different foods. Aspects affecting the final outcome of a dish include the inconsistency of constituents, local conditions, implements, and the skill and knowledge of the individual doing the actual cooking.

Wickedfood® Cooking Schools run competition cooking classes and fun Team Building events at their two schools in Sunninghill and Boksburg, and if you want to learn how to cook this is a fun way of learning. Each class lasts 3 – 3½ hours and starts off with an introduction to the preparation of all the dishes to be cooked. There will be at least 6 dishes for every class, and each class is a completely detached element in which a full menu is prepared. Each of the classes is divided into groups of between six and twelve people, and each student gets involved in preparing all of the different dishes. There are over 200 different classes that have been prepared by the school covering foods from all over the world.
