Cooking training
Wickedfood® Cooking Schools run scheduled individual cooking training classes in the mornings from 09h00 and in the evening, from 18h00, every day of the week. A class lasts for a little under 4 hours, and all of the classes are “hands on” – that means that everyone actually takes part in the preparation of dishes, of which there are usually at least six per class. The cooking traning classes run by Wickedfood® Cooking Schools take place at their two schools at Boksburg and Sunninghill and have been run since 2004. There are more than 200 different combinations of dishes that can be cooked in these classes, and these include dishes from all over the world.
Our cooking training is carried out in the form of a competition and is similar to some TV shows you may have seen. Participants are split up into teams of between 6 and 12 people to a team. Each team gets aprons of a different colour, identifying them with a work position. Art the start of the class one of the cooking training lecturers will run through the workings of the kitchen and the judging criteria, talk about the ingredients chosen (each team gets exactly the same) and discuss recipes and ideas with participants. Teams are then given 15 minutes in which to organize themselves, and then a maximum of 2 hours in which to prepare the six-course meal. At the end of the session they are judged and get to eat what they have cooked before going home
